Visceral Fat or Belly Fat

Subcutaneous fat is stored directly below your skin and is that type of fat they you can pinch between your fingers.

Visceral fat, on the other hand, is stored around your internal organs in your abdominal region, including your liver, pancreas and intestines. High visceral fat storage has also been linked to breast cancer, colorectal cancer, stroke, Alzheimer's disease and dementia. The only way to measure visceral fat is to have an MRI or CT-scan, but there are scales that can help track your progress.
